Asus Taiwan to launch Eee Laptops in 2008

Asus Taiwan is gearing up to overshadow most of the Indian PC and notebook manufacturers who have been selling high priced computers with proprietary and closed source operating systems and softwares.

Ubuntu is a popular desktop version of Linux. It is reported that the Asus Eee from Taiwan, which lists for approximately $400 could soon be in hands of Indian dealer channels. The company expects to sell close on four million Eees this financial year.

Other innovative Taiwan based motherboard manufacturers are also planning to tap the assembled Indian desktop market and the retailer channels for handheld PC which have good trained staff for Ubuntu OS installations at customer end, in India.
